Where can I stay?
East Africa Diving is based in Nungwi on the north tip of the island and close to the popular Mnemba Atoll. There is a great variety of accommodation in Nungwi, we have Hotels, Bungalow that range from BackPacker Hotels, Boutique Hotels up to 5 Star Resorts. East Africa Diving is the preferred dive centre in some of the hotels and have dive shops or a representative in these hotels. If you want us to assist with your accommodation, send us an email with your requirements and we will gladly assist.
How can I pay?
Zanzibar uses US$ as their foreign currency. As only the bigger hotels accept credit cards (VISA and Mastercard), it is advisable to bring cash. At East Africa Diving you can pay us with US$, Euro or Schillings in cash or Bank transfer Tanzanian Bank Account or credit card (VISA and Mastercard). There are ATMs in Nungwi where you can withdraw Tanzanian Shillings.
When is the best time to visit?
Dive conditions are good all-year-round Sept, Oct, Nov as well as March, Apr is the best dive conditions with less tourists around. The high season is July – Aug and end December.
Can I rent a car?
Yes, with a valid international drivers licence and if you are brave enough for our roads with cows, chickens, pot-holes and dala dallas.
Are there WIFI/internet facilities?
Yes, most hotels and many restaurants have wifi. You can also buy a local sim card with an internet bundle.
How do I get to Zanzibar?
Zanzibar has an international airport and quite a few airlines fly direct to the island or you can book a flight via Dar es Salaam where a smaller plane brings you from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar. We can gladly help you with a transfer from the airport to Nungwi.
Does Zanzibar have other facilities?
Our medical facilities have improved lost over the years. We have North Valley Clinic with very good doctors a few minutes from Nungwi. There is also Global Hospital in Stone Town. For divers, we have a decompression chamber in Stone Town with a dedicated Danish doctor.
What other activities can I do in Zanzibar?
Besides diving, you can also book city tours, spice farm tours, sundet sailing with a local Dhow, parasailing, jet ski safari, Jozani forest tours, deep sea fishing, overnight stays on luxury catamaran, visit Cheetah Rock (a wildlife animal shelter) or enjoy a memorable meal at the very popular The Rock restaurant.
